ALBER ELBAZ
Alber Elbaz was born in 1961 in Casablanca,Morocco.He worked with Yves Saint Laurent.After Gucci bought the YSL brand,Alber Elbaz designed three haute couture collections for YSL but at the same time Tom Ford designed ready to wear for YSL so they clash and Tom Ford dismissed Elbaz.In October 2001 he started to work with Lanvin,which is the oldest haute couture house in Paris.He started to design dresses,jewelry,bag,shoes for Lanvin.Then he started to design ribbons for bags,that ribbons were become his signature.He become popular and successful quietly and slowly.After his accomplished designs he became a head designer of Lanvin.
Alber Elbaz designs timeless products for Lanvin.They are like a dress of our mother’s dress and that we are going to wear at the same time.This is how they going to bring on emotion in it.He doesn’t like new dresses and vintage either that’s why he refuse to follow trends because trends is temporary,he wants to design clothes which is seems like we take from our mother and wear it today,like a heirloom dress.So it shows that Jeanne Lanvin and Alber Elbaz followed same style.Both of them loves made vintage look new clothes.Also because of that Lanvin logo includes mother and daughter which made Jeanne famous.
Elbaz creates feminine,comfortable,elegant,simple and artistic designs. He make his designs according to simple forms and wearable shapes and sizes because he wants his clothes to fit a woman who wears his designs and feel comfortable in it.It shows that he loves and respects women because he doesn’t design for being famous or earning make money,he designs to make women happy and comfortable.He use particular techniques and processes for his designs.He make sketches,he said that making sketch is the first process of design and then he designed on mannequin but they are not match sometimes because paper is 2D and the woman’s body is 3D.
You can’t know how your sketches looks like on woman’s body.Maybe it make a woman look too large so he changes his sketch and correct his mistake because form and fit of his dresses makes his designs silhouette.Although he designed lots of products and become very popular and successful,he has no sense of direction and techical skill about fashion he didn’t took any education about fashion.This makes him so important because that means he has a success which was came from his native.He is an absolutely workaholic as he always design and thinks about his designs even when he is at home.He feels like his collections are child of him but also he feels like still pregnant.
Today,Lanvin has become one of the most successful and worldwide brand.It’s never goes through from it’s own line even changes the hand.His style and tecniques always at the same lien since he started to work in fashion.Their designs are classic but also modern,it’s a very successfull combination which is create by Lanvin family and mostly by Alber Elbaz.I like his style,he makes simple,elegant and fit designs so i think these are the most important things that shows woman more feminine.If one’s outfit must give you a self confidence,Lanvin is more than enough for it.
