The collection which i talk about is “Plato’s Atlantis” which was his Spring 2010 Ready to wear collection.Show started with we naked woman who lying on the sand with snakes.There were 2 robot cameras on the runway because they were shows show online in the Mc Queen webside.
In that collection every single piece has it’s own pattern and fabric.First pieces are made from silk they includes green,brown and gold colors i think that he inspires from snakes and turtles when he designed these fabrics.These dresses had a large flaps folded over the shoulders and around the hips.Some pieces were completely full of colorful jewelry.Shoes were like a craps pincers.
Then when second part started a woman who floating in water appears in the screen again,collection was returned to “Aquatic” look.Colors changed to hot to cold colors like rather than brown,turquoise and grey started to used.The sounds of music returns to whales breathing.Shoes were returned to boots or wave look highheels.
At the third part of the collection,fabrics became a black and grey leather but these leathers seen like a rubber and that’s why silluettes seen like an alien look.So he inspires from aliens when he designed these pieces.There were so futuristic and original.
At the end of the collection,pieces became more lighter.He prefer to use transparent and shinny elements.He used lots of jewelrys and continued to alien look.
I think Mc Queen was the most avant-garde designer in the world.In this collection he didn’t design something simple or ordinary everything was unique and never seen before also not seen yet.On e of the most effective things in the collection was fabrics.Fabrics patterns were completely high quality they shows clearly which animals were they represent so that’s why audience and designer make a connection.The silhouette of the mannequins were very original and sophisticated.Cutting and the form of the pieces were wearable even if they look unwearable.All pieces were wearable but he gaves such an atmosphere that they look impossible to wear.Other wearable pieces were shoes.Everybody said that these crab pincers look shoes were impossible to wear or walk but the position of the foot is same as our highheels just form of the shoe is different.That’s the point Mc Queen influence audience and me because he changes the form of the shoe which was a simple and easy to thing about,but he changed our minds and thoughts when somebody said us “A SHOE”.
